Elixis Biosciences
Mission Statement
To bridge the gap between breakthrough biological discoveries and clinic-ready therapeutics through precision formulation, rational carrier design, and rigorous translational engineering.
Executive Summary
Elixis Biosciences LLC is a translational formulation and bioengineering partner that solves critical solubility, stability, and bioavailability bottlenecks for emerging biotherapeutics and advanced bio-consumer products. By bridging early-stage discovery and clinic-ready commercialization, Elixis designs tailored carrier architectures that de-risk assets early and accelerate translational timelines.

The Problem & Market Opportunity
Over 70% of emerging active pharmaceutical ingredients and bioactive molecules exhibit poor water solubility, inadequate tissue permeation, or narrow therapeutic windows. Academic spinouts and early-stage innovators frequently face severe translational attrition due to a lack of integrated, benchtop formulation engineering during early discovery.

Leadership and Founder Biography
Alexander "Sasha" Stafford
Principal Scientist & Founder
Alexander "Sasha" Stafford brings over two decades of multidisciplinary expertise across benchtop formulation science, bioengineering, and translational technology evaluation.
Prior to founding Elixis Biosciences, Sasha spent 15 years as a researcher and technology evaluator at Harvard University’s Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering.
Â
During his tenure at the Wyss Institute, he evaluated emerging platform technologies, engineered complex benchtop delivery systems, and facilitated the translation of academic innovations toward commercial licensing and venture creation. His earlier industry career includes hands-on research and development roles at Elan Pharmaceuticals and Arriva Pharmaceuticals, where he focused on formulation design, analytical characterization, and process workflows.
Sasha holds a Master of Liberal Arts (ALM) in Bioengineering and Nanotechnology from Harvard Extension School and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry—with dual emphases in Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry—from the University of California, Santa Cruz. At Elixis, he leads technical strategy and hands-on formulation design, helping therapeutic and life science innovators navigate the physical and chemical bottlenecks of modern drug and nutrient delivery.
